As a visual artist, I explore themes of existence, memory, and the dynamic relationships between subjects, urban and landscapes through semi-documentary narratives. Utilizing photography, video, sound, and performance, my works interrogate liminal zones between place and self, where reality and fiction intertwine by incorporating psychogeography.

Anatomy of a Fleeting Rush

/ Photography  and Video Exhibition

Existence is a physical process and a spiritual act of dwelling. The home is a reflection of the body and a sanctuary where experiences are given meaning. As one delves deeper, the suppressed other emerges, and what is familiar transforms into the uncanny. The inner space of the individual and the external world are reshaped.
The city, as an extension of the home, is constantly reconstituted in the individual's mind. It forms the space between the search for meaning and alienation. Within the uncertainty, entrapment, and insecurity created by society, the body, unable to take root, anxiously seeks escape routes. This process has no definitive end; it is continuously reproduced, unfolding within cyclical transformations.
In Bilsart gallery, the exhibition Anatomy of a Fleeting Rush, named from a poem in Ece Eldek’s book Mânâ, examines this tension and the individual's efforts to establish a place in their surroundings. The video Süregelen (Continual) transforms the tension between the familiar and the uncanny by exploring the transformation of matter into a spatial and sensory experience. Yersiz Düşler (Dreams of Nowhere) reveals the artist's relationship between body and space with a structure under threat of urban renewal.

Adaptation to Relation

/ Video Exhibition

Adaptation to Relation, 2024 (İrtibata İntibak) is a video exhibition featuring various excerpts from the performance How Now Becomes Then, designed by Şiva Canbazoğlu and İlayda Evgin. Using the time-integrated urban spaces around Eminönü, Turkey and its surroundings as a stage, the exhibition, held at CoBAC Workspace, offers an experience that transcends time and space through short videos, for which I directed. It invites viewers to reflect on the traces we leave behind by exploring the relationship between the city and the body.

      Faces, 8’, 2022

      / Short documentary

When a person begins to lose her memory, does her presence in this world gradually disappear? What will her memories, emotions and feelings happen? Or can this state of forgetfulness be curative for some situations?

Looking for answers to these questions, Faces short documentary examines the interaction of memory, time and space in a visual context based on the experiences of  director’s grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 20 years ago.

      There

      / Photography Series

Drawing on Maurice Merleau-Ponty, the development of our inner world, senses, and perception is only possible through the experience of our environment.

In the photo series titled There, the artist seeks to create a relationship between the body and the camera in her hand, the viewer’s presence in the exhibition space, and their visual perception. By positioning the viewer as if they were the lens, she offers a meditative and ritualistic environmental experience, allowing the audience to feel “there” through witnessing certain moments encountered while walking.
